KFMB Are Oprah fans ready to say goodbye?

This post originally appeared on my blog StyleSubstanceSoul.com.

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) – With only one episode of “The Oprah Winfrey Show” left, her friends are pulling out all the stops to give her the greatest farewell possible. News 8 watched the second-to-last episode with some of Oprah’s biggest fans who went with her to Australia last year.

Oprah was the inspiration for three women from San Diego to start a website for women featuring many of the same things close to Oprah’s heart — book reviews, giveaways, favorite things, charities — and that’s why they were selected as ultimate fans on that trip to Australia. They said they will forever be grateful to have played a role in Oprah’s 25-year run.

“It’s just amazing to think we had a little piece of that,” Susan Jenson said.

We watched part two of Oprah’s Surprise Farewell Spectacular with San Diegans Susan Jensen, Lois Mark and Amy Krause, who all went to Australia with Oprah last year. And though they are sad to see her show come to a close, and wonder how they’ll fill that 4 p.m. void, they know the impact she’s made will be never ending.

“I had said to my husband that there’s no one like Oprah, and he said there won’t be one, but there will be many,” Lois Mark said.

It’s reflected best, perhaps, by what these women felt was the most powerful moment of today’s show — a beautiful procession as graduates of Morehouse College, all Oprah scholarship recipients, made their way to the stage with candles, bringing tears to the woman who helped fulfill their dreams.

It was a star-studded show, with Michael Jordan, Aretha Franklin, Jerry Seinfeld, Maya Angelou, Alicia Keys and Maria Shriver as just some of the surprise guests. But as the curtain falls on this chapter of Oprah’s life, these San Diegans say it’s time for others to pay it forward.

“We need to go from being ultimate viewers to ultimate doers. We can’t sit and watch Oprah anymore, we’ve got to go and do,” Amy said.

So the women say they’re ready to take the baton from Oprah, along with the whole host of others doing good in this world.
