(CBS 8) – Some lucky San Diegans are living it up, globe-trotting with the Queen of Talk. Three local women were in the right place at the right time when Oprah gave her audience a free trip to Australia.
They’re having a picture-perfect time in Australia, and we have the photos to prove it. San Diegans Lois Mark, Susan Jensen and Amy Krause are on the free trip, courtesy of Oprah.
They were in the audience that day when Oprah gave out her favorite things to a group she called her ultimate fans. The prizes in included a 10-day trip down under.
The queen of talk isn’t letting her audience chat about the trip…
“We’re not supposed to say where we are until we leave,” – Lois e-mailed News 8, “but we definitely hit the jackpot.”
Rumor has it they’ll be hiking the Blue Mountains, wine tasting in the Hunter Valley and taking surfing lessons in Byron Bay. There’s a huge welcome party planned Saturday at the National Botanic Gardens, and a trek up the Harbor Bridge Sunday.
The trip will culminate with tapings of the Oprah show Tuesday at the famous Opera House, renamed the “Oprah House” for this trip.
Australia is definitely rolling out the red carpet treatment, hoping the publicity will generate millions of dollars in tourism for an experience our San Diegans call “priceless”.
The women say they’ll keep the postcards coming, and they promise a full report when they get back.
