SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) – Three lucky San Diegans who were part of Oprah’s ultimate Australian adventure are reliving the trip of a lifetime. On Tuesday Oprah kicked off a special four-part series about the vacation she and more than 300 of her fans took down under.
They were treated to the trip of a lifetime, and San Diegans Lois Mark, Susan Jensen and Amy Krause were there.
“It’s still surreal, and at least you look at it here and you know we actually were there,” Lois said.
On Tuesday’s “Oprah” show there was video of them to prove it, including Lois giving Oprah a hug.
“I swear I don’t remember doing that,” she said.
They held koalas, climbed the Sydney Harbor Bridge and snorkled in the Great Barrier Reef.
“We’d get up at 6 in the morning and in bed at midnight. It was nonstop, it was constant, something in the morning, something in the afternoon, all day. It was non-stop for eight days,” Susan said.
Including a barbee on Whitehaven Beach with Oprah and celebrity chef Curtis Stone. It was there that the women had what they can only describe as an amazing Oprah moment.
“Just to be able to talk to her, I mean when you talk to her she looks you in the eye. She’s completely present, she cares about what you say. This is why everyone loves her — she is so genuine,” Susan said.
The women showed us all kinds of souvenirs Oprah handed out, but they said some things that happened, they can’t share yet. We’ll just have to watch “Oprah” the next three days.
Oprah’s fans experienced great weather in Queensland, but as we know, the devastating rains came after they left. Moved by the pictures of flooding, they quickly organized and as a group have donated money to help Australians get back on their feet.
